"The Basket Weaver"
The artist often paints toiling figures close up or in a landscape. The warm palette is a favorite and the auburn coloring intensifies the scheme. Often, these are pastoral themes. This canvas was inspired by a young woman with long hair that entered the artist's studio. Her long unadorned auburn tresses inspired this work and she made an excellent study - thus the Basket Weaver emerged. The painting was featured on the pages of New York's Newsday. The original is oil on canvas painted in 1985 and is in the private collection of Mr. & Mrs. C. Caronia.
