"Pride"
Despite her station in life, a young woman dressed in shabby clothes peers out from under her bonnet with a determined expression. The artist employs a warm charcoal sketching technique in thin oils to portray this moment, a social commentary, and woman’s rights. He captures the aspirations of this young model, an art student, who left America and struck out to make her way in Europe. The original is an oil wash on canvas 36x48 painted in 1997.
