"Mending Nets II"
This bit of nostalgia of a boy repairing his fish net in the salty air is a favorite among collectors of marine art. The boy uses his toe to stretch the netting to mend the breaches. Fish netting conjures up images of the tall tales told of travel and big catches on the high seas by Old Salts and Sea Dogs. The model in this chiaroscuro style composition is the artist's grandson whose future is in sailing and ships. It is an oil on canvas painted in 2008. It measures 24x30 inches and is in the artist's private collection.
