"A View from Clinton Street"
This 1982 fine oil painting by Paul A. Gatto is another beautiful rendering of a Brooklyn scene in the Columbia Heights section. Two school chums are making their way back home after school passed brownstones dwellings. We get a view from Clinton Street. The area is part of old Brooklyn and the architecture of the brownstone homes are fine examples of buildings we find there. The Brooklyn Bridge is nearby. As in other works, the painting has a nostalgic theme and sure to summon up dejavou thoughts.
A leaning stop sign in the foreground serves to stabilize the composition. The painting is in the collection of Mr. W. Frend.
